Berty gite in France A traditional stone built Quercy farmhouse and barn in the idyllic Lot countryside

Berty Gite Accommodation

Berty Gite, all on one level, has its own entrance onto the garden. It sleeps up to 6 in 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms.

The property benefits from extensive gardens, with plenty of space for family games.

Only minutes from Montcuq, in the heart of Quercy Blanc, this is an ideal 'home from home' and the perfect base for exploring this delightful region of South West France.

Berty Gite is comfortably furnished and superbly equipped. We make a point of ensuring that you have comfort and convenience and we respond to guests' suggestions for improvements.

The thick stone walls keep the guest house deliciously cool in summer, and the wood burning stove will take the chill off spring and autumn evenings. There are central heating radiators in all the rooms for the winter.

Outside the gite is a large patio, where you can relax listening to birdsong and the chirping of frogs and crickets.

Garden games

The garden has ample space for sports activities and games including our archery range (available for an additional charge which includes equipment and instruction).

There are shady or sunny places to relax in and enjoy the surroundings and wildlife and a variety of spots for outdoor eating and entertainment.

Have a leisurely lunch in the garden or spend the afternoon in a hammock in the shade of the cherry trees.......

The property is south-facing, but benefits from the shade of mature trees and a pergola covered by rambling roses and other climbers.

Children will enjoy our swings and slide, and there is plenty of space to run around in. There is a choice of tables and chairs for outdoor dining

Perfect for nature lovers

This is the perfect place for nature lovers, our organically managed garden and meadow has many varieties of wild flowers and is attractive to insects, frogs, lizards and butterflies. The lavender growing by the pool is a magnet for swallowtail butterflies and hummingbird hawk-moths, as well as many bees.

Our dark skies make for splendid star-gazing and we can arrange an astronomy evening using our computer-guided telescope for exploring the milky way, planets and nebulae.

For bird-watchers there are golden orioles, cirl buntings, short-toed tree creepers, wrynecks, nightingales, wrens, hoopoes and many other bird visitors, depending on season.

Perfect for walking and cycling

The country lanes are generally quiet and there are some lovely walks and cycle routes in the area

The nearby lake is a great place to find frogs and numerous dragonflies. Up on the causse you may come across a "gariotte" - a small stone hut once used by shepherds.
